I’m preparing for ITIL V2 Service manager exam, I hae few questions
1. Do i need to read the book throughly ?
2. Is there a easy way of remembering the concepts ?
3. While writing the exam,Should i use only bullet points?
4. Can i skip any topic in SD &SS ?
Basically you will need to know and understand the theory and practical application of the ITIL processes and functions in the Service Support and Service Delivery books.
There are a number of blog posts specifically about the ITIL V2 Service Manager exam and how to prepare for them, maybe read them first as this might answer your question: http://ivankamenken.wordpress.com/2008/12/09/itil-service-management-exam-with-itc-case-study/
I have just achieved ITIL V3 foundation certification wit hthe help of The Art Of Service and am wondering what to study next and would ike any advice / thoughts on the matter.
I am currently a PM (Prince 2 registered practitioner).
My aim is to make myself more marketable as I want to move onwards and upwards but realise at the same time that the certification alone does not an expert make!
Hi Michael,
Thanks for your question. I will send you some information in a separate email. In addition – you are spot on that certification only doesn’t make you an Expert! Having said that – the certification is a fantastic starting point to see what the theory is all about so you have the correct basis to build your expertise on. It’s like going for your driving license – the fact that you’ve passed the test doesn’t make you an expert driver. It merely gives you a validation that you’ve mastered the basics enough to continue building your expertise without constant supervision.
Enjoy the rest of your educational journey, and remember: Every day is a school day!

I have just started studying for my ITIL V3 foundation certification using The Art Of Service, and am wondering about the Cloud Computing Foundation that I discovered. My current boss is an ITIL Master so I asked him if he had ever heard of the Cloud Computing Foundation. He had not seen it coming out of Britain and that made me wonder if it is globally adopted yet.
I want to complete my V3 foundation and continue on to Practitioner. I work in a cloud computing environment (as a provider) and thought the Cloud foundation may be a good path as well.
As for the Cloud Computing Pathway – we created this Certification Pathway in 2008 as a result of some ‘less than optimal’ service experiences with Cloud Based Service providers.
More information about this Certification Program can be found at our online store.
We are currently updating the course materials, the Foundation Program has been released and the Specialist programs will follow soon.
I’m interesting for buying the book “Cloud Computing Foundation Complete Certification Kit – Study Guide Book” but i would like to know where can i take the exam “Cloud Computing Foundation Exam”. I have been looking in prometric, vue, and others testing centers, but i can’t find wich one i can use to take this exam.
Hi Juan Felipe,
The exam is taken at a venue of your choice. We coordinate an approved supervisor who will ensure the integrity of the exam conditions. You take the exam at your convenience, at a location that suits you best.
For all your certification books / e-Learnings for the Capability and Life cycle modules on Amazon, are they all considered ‘Approved by EI” ? ITIL website says that only the foundation exam is eligible for self-study, so wanted to make sure that your RCV, OSA, etc. books and e-Learnings are sufficient to take the respective exams. Please advise.
The Art of Service is accredited by CSME for all its ITIL V3 certification programs. This includes all Intermediate Capability programs (SOA, PPO, RCV,OSA), Lifecycle Programs (SS, SD, ST, SO CSI) and Managing Across the Lifecycle Course.
You can safely purchase the elearning programs, either from our online store or any of our brokers (including Amazon).
We even have packages that include the exam preparation programs and/or exam vouchers!
The official ITIL site says that you need to attend an accredited course – and all our elearning programs are accredited so no need to be nervous!
Good luck
Ivanka
There is a looming cultural clash within the innovation space that will be creating some interesting shifts. Namely, the “kids” today represent the first natively Global generation in the history of man. The rest of us have embraced globality as though it were a foreign language–we speak it, but not natively.
This global generation is less interested in furthering the efforts of our parents and are more interested in doing new things altogether. For example, they are not thinking about building a better/faster/safer commuting experience, they’re questioning the very concept of going to a work location (they prefer to work where ever they already are).
We saw a hint of this looming clash with the dot-com gold rush (for the brief while it lasted before collapsing under its own weight–I am actually at ground-zero: the I267 corridor in northern Virginia, a veteran of the telecom carnival). Where we’re starting to see this renewed clash is in the public sector–government organizations.
Most government agency and department leadership structures are staffed with pre-global/instant/borderless times, well mired in Drucker’s little management book. These Gen-Globals don’t even know who Drucker is, what he espoused, and could care even less only if they tried. What these old timers refer to as “technology” these newcomers refer to as vanilla infrastructure (what? no iPod?? What’s a “P… C…?’). This has lead to a current problem: Government wants the best talent, but its leadership doesn’t speak that talent’s native language (or at least speak it natively).
What happens as the Gen-Globals start moving up through the ranks into middle, then upper level management, just below the CxO’s? Will conventional (old school) management philosophies and approaches be effective managing this new, vital labor pool?
I would think that with all the books and certifications on how to do things (PMP, ITIL, ISO 27k, L6S etc.), that some organization somewhere would be looking to build methodologies and metrics more appropriate for this new labor pool if they want to stay competitive. That means putting the whole management thinking back on the drawing board (if not starting from scratch).
As this is something I track and study, I wonder what you’re seeing, or hearing along these lines, and do you know of anyone trying to standardize or address this upcoming challenge in some kind of certifiable way? Such a body of work would have impacts on virtually all of the existing certification programs out there…
Pretty sure it’s available from our online store as well as Amazon. Please follow this link which takes you to the elearning program with the textbook (and the exam prep) in our online store.
Happy study!!
Hi Ivanka,
My question is how can I find out the cost of ITIL Intermediate exam?
I am planning to take a course from “Theartofservice” and was unable to get any information on the exam fee.
I tried checking it on the Prometric and Pearson sites but couldn’t even see the intermediate exam listed there.
I will appreciate your reply.
Thanks

There are a number of options:
1) you purchase the elearning program directly from our store and after you finish your course you go ‘shopping’ for an exam with the exam institute of your choice. You have this option because the course and exams are separate entities.
The elearning only option are available as Certification Kits (or elearning + exam prep in a combined package) in our online store.
OR
2) You choose the complete examination packs from our Premium Products section. This way you have course + exam preparation + exam all combined into the one purchase. When you near completion of your course, our exam coordinator will contact you to organise the details of your exam session.
