The visa story… part 2

by Ivanka on June 13, 2012

Remember my frustration last week when the Brazilian embassy was saying that I needed to apply for a work permit?! Well.. get this: Our client has changed the itinerary of the trip because we didn’t want to run the risk of me not having a visa.

So no paid assignments, and more a meeting focus: media interviews, meetings, keynote presentations at conferences that sort of stuff….

So that means that the business visa would be the better option, right?

WRONG

Yesterday I received my passport with the $98 money order AND the application form back… and you know why?

I HAVE A DUTCH PASSPORT :-)

Yep – you read that correctly.. Australian passport holders must pay $98 for a business visa but I get in for FREE!!! No visa required.

I still don’t understand it though but I am not going to complain… it turns out to be a pretty good outcome for our client and me and we’ll do the training bit the next time I go over there so we give our self some time to get it all sorted properly.

Better start downloading my beginner Portuguese lessons on my iPod..
