What are the six patterns in The Clarity Shift?

The book names six patterns that hold growing businesses back: strategic drift, identity risk, decision risk, alignment risk, the compound effect of all three, and the mirror that helps you see them. Most founders recognise one first.

  1. Strategic Drift

Chapter 2 · A degree or two off course

  2. Identity Risk

Chapter 5 · When you become the business

  3. Decision Risk

Chapter 6 · The cost of circling

  4. Alignment Risk

Chapter 7 · Good people, wrong direction

  5. The Compound Effect

Chapter 8 · The three risks feeding each other

  6. The Mirror

Chapter 9 · The mirror, not the map

Questions about the book and what comes next

What is the Five-Number Scorecard?

The Five-Number Scorecard is the one page Ivanka Menken uses with mentoring clients each month: weeks of payroll covered by cash in the bank, gross margin, the price of your newest work against the same work a year ago, commitments kept, and your confidence in the business from 1 to 10. The free online version saves nothing and asks for no email.

What is strategic drift?

Strategic drift, from chapter 2 of The Clarity Shift by Ivanka Menken, is a business slipping a degree or two off course. Daily decisions still feel reasonable and the effort is still there, but the overall direction shifts slowly and silently. The book calls it the rule in a growing business, not the exception, and asks whether you see it in time.

What is identity risk?

Identity risk, from chapter 5 of The Clarity Shift by Ivanka Menken, is what happens when your sense of who you are fuses with the company’s performance. A bad quarter starts to feel like a verdict, and decisions begin to protect your ego instead of serving the business. The way out starts with a sense of self that does not ride on last month’s numbers.

Who is The Clarity Shift for?

The Clarity Shift by Ivanka Menken is for founders and senior leaders whose business is doing well on paper but who feel something has shifted: decisions take longer, the playbook that built the company has stopped working, and they have become the bottleneck. It is 189 pages, free as a PDF, with no email required to download it.

How does the mentoring work after I download the book?

Nothing happens automatically after you download The Clarity Shift, because Ivanka Menken never asks for your email. If you want help, you can book a free 20-minute conversation, a 90-minute Strategic Clarity Intensive at A$1,500 ex GST for one decision, or six months of 1:1 mentoring with twelve fortnightly sessions at A$1,500 a month ex GST.

One decision you keep circling?

The Strategic Clarity Intensive is 90 minutes with Ivanka on one decision, A$1,500 ex GST, and you leave with it settled.

Six months of support instead? See 1:1 mentoring.
