Decide while the information still matters.

The decision crossover is the point Ivanka Menken looks for in her 90-minute Strategic Clarity Intensive (AUD $1,500 ex GST) when a founder has analysed one decision for weeks. Early analysis changes the picture; later analysis only delays it, while the cost of waiting keeps rising. Where those two lines cross, more research is worth less than the time it takes, so the session closes with one written commitment instead of another scenario.

  1. OpenedI over-analyse every decision
  2. ReopenedI keep adding scenarios instead of picking one
  3. ReopenedMy team has been waiting on this decision for weeks
  4. ReopenedEvery meeting reopens what we already discussed
  5. ReopenedI want speed, and I keep stalling

More analysis gets cheaper to skip. Waiting gets dearer.

In the first days, every question you answer changes the picture. After a while, the next answer changes very little, and the cost of not deciding keeps growing. The two lines cross. Past that point, more analysis is mostly a way of not deciding.

The Decision CrossoverTwo lines over the time a decision has been open. The value of more analysis starts high and falls; the cost of delay starts low and rises. Where they cross, more analysis is worth less than the time it takes, and the decision is made as one written commitment. The Decision Crossover · a framework by Ivanka Menken

Four questions that find the crossover

Ivanka asks them in this order, inside the 90 minutes.

  1. What would you decide if you had to commit by Friday?
  2. What would one more week of analysis change, specifically?
  3. What is this delay costing you each week, in attention, money and momentum?
  4. What is the first step you could take that cannot be taken back?

How the crossover is used in the session

It is part of the third step of the Strategic Clarity Intensive: define the cost of delay.

  1. 1Name what more analysis would addNot in general: the one question you still think is open, and what its answer would change.
  2. 2Price the waitingWhat each week without a decision costs, in attention, money, momentum and the trust of the people waiting on you.
  3. 3Commit at the crossoverOnce waiting costs more than knowing, the decision is written down with its first irreversible step.

“Ivanka gave me clarity and direction on how to take the next steps. I was lacking confidence in how I should execute. I felt empowered and informed after our session.”

Questions about the crossover

What is the decision crossover?

The decision crossover is the moment when the value of more analysis falls below the cost of waiting. Ivanka Menken uses it in the Strategic Clarity Intensive when a founder has been circling one decision for weeks. Before the crossover, questions still change the picture. After it, more research mostly protects you from deciding, so the session closes with one written commitment.

How does Ivanka Menken find the crossover in a session?

Ivanka Menken asks what one more week of analysis would actually change, then what each week of waiting is costing. When the honest answer to the first is very little and the second keeps growing, you have passed the decision crossover. The Strategic Clarity Intensive then moves to the decision itself and its first irreversible step.

What if the analysis really does matter?

Sometimes it does, and then the decision crossover is still ahead of you. Ivanka Menken names the one question that is genuinely open and how you will answer it, with a date. If the decision cannot be undone, the session spends more time on the cost of delay and on what reversal would cost. Speed is never the goal on its own.

Is this a separate service?

No. The decision crossover is part of the Strategic Clarity Intensive with Ivanka Menken: one private 90-minute session on one decision, AUD $1,500 ex GST, live on Zoom. It belongs to the third step, defining the cost of delay. It is also used in her six-month 1:1 mentoring when a fortnightly decision keeps getting reopened.

What do I leave the session with?

You leave the Strategic Clarity Intensive with the decision written down, the first irreversible step and the date you will take it. Ivanka Menken does not hand you a report full of new scenarios. The point of the decision crossover is the opposite: fewer options, one commitment, and the mental bandwidth that comes from closing the loop.

Does this mean deciding without the numbers?

No. The numbers behind the decision are read in the session, and Ivanka Menken asks what they actually say. The decision crossover is about the next piece of analysis, not the first. If the numbers you need do not exist yet, getting them becomes the written commitment, with a date, instead of an open loop.
